You're not the only one having this problem, apparently. The good news for people is eventually it all works at some point, as long as people don't abort the upgrade. I think AT&T is to blame here, because their activation servers blew up.

I purchased this unit a few months ago, and I have to say I wholeheartedly agree. It is *fantastic*. Unlike the 700 series units with internal antennas, this one gets a signal quickly and easily. And the traffic/weather stuff from MSN direct is very cool. It reroutes you based on traffic conditions and road construction! My only complaint is that there are several stores and businesses missing from the database. Our local Target store is an example. It just doesn't know about it. No matter. I still love this thing. So will you. In fact, because she talks to you in such plain english, you may come to think of it as an electronic friend. We named ours "Shirley".

Richard, Its easy. I connect my USB720 from Verizon Wireless into the Cradlepoint to provide the 3G access. Then I use the iPhone and connect to the Cradlepoint via the WiFi connection. That is it. I then am online with the 3G EVDO Rev A. network via the WiFi connection on my iPhone.

Eileen, that is not true. You don't NEED to get one to use the nuvi 680. Its used for transferring MP3s and photos to the Garmin. I installed a 1gb SD card in mine. If you don't use those functions, then you can just use the nuvi as is.
